Am I A Drummer With Autism Or Am I A Person With Autism Who Plays Drums? By Andres Ortiz, 02/2021 Photo courtesy of Andres Ortiz, Photography Class Project My name is Andres Ortiz and I have high functioning autism. I’ve been playing drums for about 16 years. Playing drums makes me feel energetic, happy and special both inside and out. Learning to play the drums has helped me in lots of ways.  Not only do I have a better appreciation of lots of kinds of music but my social skills have gotten a lot better because being in a band means that you have to understand other people.   Music has been my link to the neurotypical community.  When I’m behind the kit, no one knows that I am different. Music has helped my behavior, social and communication skills. It doesn't matter if I am playing or listening to music. Playing the drums makes me a better musician and a better person. When I first started jamming with people, I was worried about being accepted and being a good enough drummer b

Game Review, By Alex Antonov ~ "Origami Got Me!" The Excitement Unfolds

Game Review, By Alex Antonov ~ "Origami Got Me!" The Excitement Unfolds Origami Got Me! Everybody has their favorite Mario game. Mine is Paper Mario the Origami King . It's funny, colorful, creative, and full of surprises. As Paper Mario continues his journey around the world, he sets out to rescue Princess Peach from her castle that has been seized by ORIGAMI! In fact, cool origami unfolds everywhere in this game! To accomplish his mission, Mario has to find the end of five massive color streamers, which take him to all kinds of amazing landscapes, challenging games, unique boss battles, and interesting characters, who are of course made of origami. I haven't finished the game yet but I'm not going to give up! And besides, the longer it takes me, the more fun I'll have!

Scooby Doo!!! Where are YOU? My Review ~ By Olivia Gallo

Scooby  Doo!!! Where are YOU? Scooby Doo is an animated television cartoon about a big brown dog with black spots. He wears a blue color with a yellow tag. The show started in 1969 and it is still on TV today. Why I love Scooby Doo... Scooby Doo is friendly and funny and he loves being silly. Scooby Doo is funny because he loves kissing Shaggy, he slobbers all over him. And he jumps in Shaggy’s arms because he's a scaredy cat. Scooby Doo is my favorite character because he’s a talking dog and he is good friends with Shaggy. Shaggy is Scooby Doo’s good friend they met when they were little. They have known each other for a long time. Mystery Inc have known each other since they were little kids and Scooby Doo was a puppy. My favorite episode of “Scooby Doo!!! Where Are You? is “ Jeepers it’s the Creeper ” the Creeper wants the paper and the villain chases them. Creeper wanted the paper and the Mystery Inc. wouldn’t give it to him now so he chased them into trying to get it now.

The Popular and Award Winning Script is My Favorite Rock Band The Script is a rock band from Dublin, Ireland. I have loved their songs ever since I saw them at PNC Arts Center in August of 2014. Their songs are about love and depending on the words can make me feel happy or sad. They also make me feel inspired to be a songwriter. For example the song “Rusty Halo” is a happy song and it makes me feel excited to write something about how I feel about love.  They have had six studio albums, 21 singles and 19 music videos. They have won three music awards in Ireland, two world music awards and have sold over 20 million albums worldwide. Their songs have been in many TV shows such as 90210, Ghost Whisperer, The Hills and The Vampire Diaries. I think that this makes them super famous, super popular and amazing writers of great songs that many people enjoy.   Script ~ Vinyl Limited vinyl LP pressing of this 2008 release.  Their first album is called “ The Script ” and it is my favorite of a

" For this rocking drummer with autism, 'drums and the stage are my comfort zone' " Congratulations to Andres Ortiz! 👉 APP Article Link 👈  Rebecca Tauber, freelance journalist with the Asbury Park Press , met with Andres in response to an article he wrote for The TAZ Times! The article, " Am I A Drummer With Autism Or Am I A Person With Autism Who Plays Drums ?", caught the attention of Rebecca as a well written and interesting article, and as a way to draw attention to Autism Awareness Month . In class, we've discussed the elements that make for a strong article, including a catchy or "hooky" headline, vibrant visuals, and strong descriptive writing. Andres brought all of that together, and more. It was his honesty, his willingness to share his story of overcoming nerves and self-doubt, to inspire others, that landed him the interview, and publication on the APP website. The TAZ Times would like to thank the APP for their consideration in s
