'The TAZ Times' Photojournalist Interviewed By The Asbury Park Press!
"For this rocking drummer with autism, 'drums and the stage are my comfort zone'"
Congratulations to Andres Ortiz! ๐ APP Article Link ๐ Rebecca Tauber, freelance journalist with the Asbury Park Press, met with Andres in response to an article he wrote for The TAZ Times!
The article, "Am I A Drummer With Autism Or Am I A Person With Autism Who Plays Drums?", caught the attention of Rebecca as a well written and interesting article, and as a way to draw attention to Autism Awareness Month.
In class, we've discussed the elements that make for a strong article, including a catchy or "hooky" headline, vibrant visuals, and strong descriptive writing. Andres brought all of that together, and more. It was his honesty, his willingness to share his story of overcoming nerves and self-doubt, to inspire others, that landed him the interview, and publication on the APP website.
The TAZ Times would like to thank the APP for their consideration in sharing Andres' story. And especially thank Rebecca Tauber who did a great job with the interview and article. Rebecca was patient, very thoughtful in her questions, and a consummate professional. Thank you, Rebecca.
Photojournalism is an amazing and really fun way to delve inward, and draw out what is interesting you, inspiring you, making you feel joy... or even consider challenging moments in life that allowed you to evolve and become the person you are today. And heck ~ maybe along the way, if you put in the practice-time, and are persistent, you may even get published!
Cheers, Andres! Well done, sir. We are all proud of you.
Addendum ~ Through viral sharing online, Andres' article has been shared nationally and internationally via sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, and the Rock group 'Autistix' who gave Andres a shout-out & post on their FB page! Amazing. Well deserved, Andres!
Great job, Andres. You knocked it out of the park! Please keep writing and sharing. You are on the road to cultivating an audience!
